Argentine Tango has its origins in the late 19th century in the working class neighborhoods of Buenos Aires. From humble beginnings, it has evolved to become a sophisticated, elegant dance of deep connection and intimacy.
Beginners Argentine Tango
-Mondays, 6:30 – 8:00 pm
-Six 1.5 hour classes – One hour of instruction plus half an hour of supervised practice.
-Learn the fundamentals of Argentine Tango – walking with a partner in close embrace, navigating the floor, turning and the basic codes of the dance floor.
-All in a fun, relaxed atmosphere with an expert instructor!
Intermediate Argentine Tango
- Mondays, 7:30-9:00 pm
- Six 1.5 hour classes – One hour of instruction plus half an hour of supervised practice at the beginning of class
-Builds on the concepts taught in the Beginners class. Introduces cross system, ochos, sacadas, the cross, stops, musicality and technique exercises to improve the walk.
-Easy to follow instruction with plenty of repetition giving you a great learning experience!
Geraldine Goyer
Our Argentine Tango instructor Geraldine, aka Gigi, has a wealth of experience in all forms of partner dancing, from Ballroom to Salsa and everything in between. Her particular passion is Argentine Tango and she has trained, performed and coached in this genre for nearly 30 years.
Her approach to teaching is very gentle and newcomers will find themselves quickly immersed in the music, the feel and the steps of this beautiful dance. No previous dance experience is necessary, as we say, if you can walk, you can dance the Argentine Tango!
